About Equipment Repair Services
Equipment repair services provide in-house or on-site repair and refurbishment services. They enable businesses to minimize downtime and ensure the safe, continuous operation of machinery, equipment, and production processes. Preventive maintenance (preventative maintenance) and corrective maintenance activities vary in terms of duration and cost. Many different types of equipment repair services are located across the United States and around the world. For example, computer repair services fix personal computers (PCs), workstations, networking equipment and printers. Industrial monitor repair services are also available. Industrial equipment repair services fix feeders, hoppers and other material handling equipment. Industrial machine repair services correct problems with presses, milling machines, lathes, and other equipment. Industrial electronic repair services are also used by a variety of manufacturing industries. Facilities management personnel retain industrial maintenance specialists, industrial heating maintenance services, and plumbing repair services on a regular basis. Machine maintenance, mechanical repair services, and general-purpose equipment repair services are also available.
Equipment repair services are located across the United States and around the world. They comply with both voluntary standards and regulatory requirements for industrial repairs and maintenance. The International Standards Organization (ISO), a worldwide federation of national standards bodies, establishes voluntary guidelines for development, production, and installation. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) represents the United States in ISO. Industry-specific standards for repair and maintenance services include QS-9000 and AS9100. QS-9000 is a quality standard for suppliers of DaimlerChrylser Corporation, Ford Motor Company, and General Motors Corporation. AS9100, a standard from the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), contains over 70 requirements specifically for aerospace and aviation companies. Regulatory agencies such as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also provide guidelines that equipment repair services need to follow. Typically, equipment repair services that perform work for the U.S. government or its suppliers comply with military specifications (MIL-SPEC).
